Whether you're using drawings or Model Based Definition, SOLIDWORKS 2025 can help you document your designs faster than ever.
Many users take advantage of SOLIDWORKS Weldments to quickly create welded structures. When weldments are used in assemblies, we've been able to make the detailed cut list and bill of materials to document these components.
You can now quickly override the Bill of Materials quantities with the attribute assigned to the cut list properties of the part model (and in this case, length) getting exactly the information you need for those components.
This next option is a great time saver for users exporting drawings for 2D CAD programs like DraftSight.
In SOLIDWORKS 2025, there is a new option to export drawing views as blocks, removing a tedious downstream task needed with previous versions of the software.
In previous versions of SOLIDWORKS users had to use the undo list or reopen drawings to accomplish the same goal as reload for parts and assemblies.
In SOLIDWORKS 2025, you can now reload drawings taking you back to your last save point making it even easier to explore the best way to document your designs.
There have been some great enhancements for Model Based Definition in SOLIDWORKS 2025. You can now load and unload MBD as an add-in allowing for efficient use and network licenses just like any other add-in.
Casters and injection molders rejoice. The process to size drafted features has been drastically reduced in 2025. The wedge feature for size dimensions now includes the width where needed making it even faster to document drafted designs.
We've always been able to use feature dimensions in MBD, but we've also had to create DimXpert dimensions for downstream use. Another great time saver in SOLIDWORKS 2025 is the ability to create DimXpert dimensions from sketch dimensions, quickly adding that information to designs.
Lastly, new in MBD is the ability to separate position tolerance for the slot width and height.
SOLIDWORKS 2025 gives you the edge when documenting your designs.
