In SOLIDWORKS PDM, we can enable duplicate file name checking for a vault so that users cannot create multiple files of the same file type with the same name. The duplicate file name check triggers when using the following commands:

This is a global setting for the entire vault and applies to the specified file types stored within it. Here are the steps to enable duplicate file name checking:
Note: You can specify only certain file types (extensions) that trigger the duplicate name check. To do this, select the option Do not allow duplicate file names of files with these extensions. Then you can enter one extension per line without any prefix. (. Or *)
