Material Description

Polylactic Acid otherwise known as PLA is an entry-level grade of thermoplastic material. PLA is commonly associated with the ‘hobbyist’ FFF based printers because it builds well in systems that do not have closed-loop thermal control of the build chamber. It is offered on the F123 platform as a low-cost material for conceptual designs and form factor analysis when project goals dictate quick iteration and minimal cost. It is also an excellent fit for schools and educators tasked to expose students to advanced technologies without blowing the budget on expensive materials.
