There are two main ways in which you can bring CATIA V5 models into SOLIDWORKS. We'll explore both processes and the various pro's and con's to help you make the best decision.

We'll start off by using SOLIDWORKS 3D Interconnect to open the CATIA assembly file, .CATproduct, and it will create a link so if the parts in the CATIA file update, then we'll see those changes also update in SOLIDWORKS.

Then we'll turn off 3D Interconnect and open the CATIA files and see how SOLIDWORKS imports the files and creates the SOLIDWORKS Assembly with Parts.
