In this video, we show how to use the Live Inspect tool inside of Geomagic Control X. This tool performs streamlined inspections based on pre-planned inspection requirements. A Reference (CAD model) is required. Although Geomagic Control X supports both probing and scanning hardware, this video focuses on the probing workflow, using a PCMM (portable coordinate measuring machine), also known as an “arm”. We show how to add additional dimensions and dimension groups. Once the process is started, the software prompts the user to measure or probe the various virtual targets on the physical part that are also on the CAD model. Once the alignment is done, the inspection plan is performed by using the probe device to measure planes, cylinders, etc., to fulfill the inspection requirements. Once the inspection routine is complete, the user can organize and add additional information that will be passed along to create the inspection report. Reports can be saved in Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF formats. The inspection plan can also be run again on multiple parts.
