With the release of Formlabs PreForm 3.43, GoEngineer’s suite of tools for advanced design and manufacturing has upgraded massively. The Form series of SLA printers are best-in-class additive manufacturing solutions serving industries from tailored dental solutions, to prototyping, and end-use production parts. PreForm is the free job preparation (or slicing) software for Formlabs 3D printers, and works on Windows and macOS. With just a few button clicks, default settings and first-party resins produce reliable results.
Stratasys FDM 3D printers provide exceptional design freedom and flexibility regarding materials, build volumes, slice heights, and even soluble support materials when dealing with complex internal channels. However, it's important to consider the relationship between slice height and fine features. Depending on the nozzle diameter and available slice heights, certain wall thicknesses can be difficult (or impossible) to print reliably. To combat this, we need to understand the limitations of our machines and use that information when designing parts to print.
Most software packages are designed to cover a wide range of situations, and Stratasys Insight software is no exception. This can be seen in the general settings for tool paths, infills, slice heights, and the purge/sacrificial towers. The default purge tower for a Stratasys F123 series 3D printer is depicted below next to the L Bracket. In this tutorial, learn how to create a custom purge tower using Stratasys Insight software.
After installation, Stratasys Insight software provides several adjustable interface options to help you create a comfortable user experience to best meet your needs. This quick tutorial shows the different options and steps to set up Insight for one or multiple users, starting with the Preferences menu. Let's get started.
In this Insight tutorial, we explain how to reuse custom groups in other Insight projects and share some helpful bonus tips when using the software. Custom Groups is a tool in Stratasys’ Insight software that, by default, stays within the file that you are working in. To use the custom group on a new 3D printed part or to share it with a colleague, you will need to export those groups.
