3DEXPERIENCE World 2025 has come to a close and what a week we had in Houston! Let’s recap some of the key messages and announcements we heard during this year’s event. 2025 is a significant year for SOLIDWORKS as it marks 30 years since its initial release. This milestone was a common theme throughout the week – celebrating SOLIDWORKS for where it has brought us and being excited about the growth and future of the CAD tool we know and love.
As additive manufacturing continues to emerge in the medical sector, companies like Stratasys have developed advanced 3D printers and digital anatomy materials that replicate human bone and tissue characteristics. Surgeons use this technology for patient-specific pre-surgical practice—raising concerns about validating the accuracy of 3D printed anatomical models.
We have all referred to Mass Properties when working with solid models, especially when taking SOLIDWORKS certifications! For the most part, useful information is available at a glance: Density, Mass, Volume, Surface Area, etc. But how does someone interpret the rest of the information included in Mass Properties, particularly the numbers at the bottom? What exactly are they telling us?
A common question I hear from 3DEXPERIENCE users is, “How can I see if a part or an assembly has any associated drawings?” Turns out there are many ways to get this information. In this blog, I’ll start with some simple methods and then move on to some that take a little more setup but are worth the effort.
This article explains how to quickly switch the SOLIDWORKS PDM license types on a per-client basis. This method works for both SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional and SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard.
For decades, I have been an aquarist. Like most hobbyists, I started simple, and put together a community aquarium with a variety of fish that were compatible with one another, with a standard aquarium filter. Later, I started breeding specific fish. In breeding aquariums, the filter system needs to be a bit different so that the young fish (the fry) don't get sucked into the filter. I knew that the placement of the filter would impact its flow efficiency, but I wasn't exactly sure to what extent. (Even the filter manufacturer didn't provide this information.) So, I decided to investigate this by creating the aquarium and filter system assembly in SOLIDWORKS and then running a simulation of each type of filter system in different positions.
Every few years, it comes time to turn your trusty old computer out to pasture in favor of a sleek new laptop or workstation. Or, with the increase in home offices, you want to be able to use your SOLIDWORKS license at home. Here’s what you need to know when it comes to deactivating the SOLIDWORKS license on your computer.
The ability to link model information to your PDM data cards is one of the many benefits of a PDM vault integration. For most, linking Summary and Custom properties to a PDM data card is sufficient. (Figure 1) However, there is a growing user base using configurations for their models to save time and money. (Watch our SOLIDWORKS Configurations - Quick Tip video to learn more.) This article covers how to link configuration-specific information to the SOLIDWORKS PDM data card.
